Google searches for ‘insomnia‘ hit a record high, and more than 1 in 5 people say COVID-19 concerns keep them up at night.
A third of U.S. adults report that they usually get less than the recommended amount of sleep. Not getting enough sleep is linked with many chronic diseases and conditions, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and depression. Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder in the United States. The exact prevalence of insomnia is unknown – conservative studies estimate approximately 10-30% of U.S. adults live with chronic insomnia, while other studies estimate closer to 50-60%.
